Easy build a road bicycle wheel
Vintage Easy build a road bicycle wheel
We need spokes of the right length
A hub, 36 nipples, rim and 36 spokes for our new wheel
We start with nine spokes from the outside in the hub
One spoke in a hole and one empty, about nine times
1: the place for the valve, 2: hole for spoke on the other side of the hub, 3: hole is on the right side for the spoke, 4 on the right side of the hub
Place a spoke in the rim and a nipple every 4 holes
Important moment, now place a spoke in the right place on the other side of the hub
This spoke ends up here and a nipple on it
Now put the remaining 8 spokes through the hub
And every 4 holes a spoke in the rim with a nipple on it
Then we get this result, 2 empty places (1 & 2), and 2 places with spokes (3 & 4)
On the side where we placed the last spokes, we are now going to place 9 spokes from the outside to the inside
Push the spoke on the other side slightly upwards past the other spoke
Turn this spoke to the left and move under the 2 first spokes and above the 3rd spoke to the rim
The spoke then ends up to the left of 2 other spokes
Repeat this 9 times, now there is 1 space left in the rim every 3 spokes
Place the remaining 9 spokes through the hub from the inside to the outside
Move the first spoke to the right and place it above the first 2 spokes and below the 3 spoke, and place it in the rim.
All spokes are now in place
When we have chosen the correct length then tighten all nipples until the thread on the spoke is no longer visible
And then we can start aligning the wheel.
Now that the spokes are still tightening, you have it or you don't, is still a bit of a real specialty of the performer
