Martelly-Coppi vs Fiorelli-Coppi. Every now and then you see a bike with a very special fork crown.
A 'Coppi' bike... These bikes were made in Belgium by Martens (Martelly) and in Italy by Fiorelli.
We try to find out if and how you can detect the difference between the two.
The seatstay and the lugs seem to be the places where we can possibly spot differences.
Starting point, the unmistakable forkcrown
COPPI bicycle frames were made by F.lli MASCIAGHI Bicycles; company founded in 1967 (Italy).
In 1990, they reportedly collaborated with Giovanni Pellizzoli...
Made also by Martens (Martelly) for Destoop in Ghent ...
The maker (Eddy Martens from Martelly) dates this bike in the 70's.
Since then there have been some modifications (cable guides) and a repaint in the 80's and the restorer made his mark '33'.
